So here are a few pics to highlight Thanksgiving 2013 for the Youngs...

First stop was my Mother's house where we had some great food. Turkey, yellow rice, collard greens, corn muffins, stuffing, sweet potato pie, cake and ice cream. Yea!! :) One plate was enough.

One plate was enough!!

Sweet Potato pie and  lemon pound cake a la mode... :)

Later I met up with Amy and her family and decided to have some dessert. One thing I learned today was that Pecan Pie is the best thing ever!!

Weekend recap - Amy's first Half Marathon

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Good morning peeps!! Well I didn't do much running this weekend. Knee is still feeling sore. What I did get a chance to do is volunteer at Metropolitan Ministries. Metropolitan Ministries is an organization that helps needy families in the Tampa Bay area with food for the holidays. I feel very grateful to work for a company that will allow us to leave work to go and volunteer for this worthy cause. Every year that I do it is a great experience. Here are some pics from the event...

Hope was their theme this year...

On Saturday I got in a great  27 mile ride which was a lot of fun. And I even created this video which I have have now decided is the best video only Youtube... :) I give you Tour De Temple Terrace...

I will keep you posted on the progress of the knee but for now I will be a cyclist until further notice...

This rest of the weekend was great. I was able to go out and support Amy in completing her first half marathon. She did awesome and I have the videos and pics to prove it... She finished in 2:48:04.  Here are some of the pics and video from the Women's Half Marathon in St. Pete on 11/24/13.

She earned this!!!

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Goooood morning peeps!! Happy Monday morning to you. Do to the fact that I am nursing a little knee pain  I did not run this weekend and I'm taking today off as well. I do have a BIG 55 mile week planned for this week and I expect to get all of those lovely miles in...

Amy has her first half marathon this weekend so I'm super excited to go cheer her on and support her at the Women's half Marathon in St. Petersburg on Sunday.

As for me my weekend didn't involve running but I still had a lot of fun because it included two of my other favorite things; music and chocolate!! :)  Friday was a nice quiet evening at home with my daughter.  Saturday we went to hang out with my Mother and wound up ordering a pizza from pizza hut. The great part is what we got with the pizza. We ordered the chocolate dipping sticks. OMG!! They were soooooo good!!  If you haven't had them you gotta get 'em... :)

Sunday was Church at my Spiritual Community, Unity North Tampa. Our group Sounds of Light performed "All Good Gifts" from Godspell during the service. It went really well. Check out the video below...

2 tips you must do to get to the marathon start line healthy - Fantabulous Friday

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Good morning peeps!! Happy Fantabulous Friday to ya!!  In today's post I'm going to share with you the two most important things you must do to get to the marathon start line healthy.  Being that I'm getting ready for Jacksonville I really need to being doing these things myself...  Yes I am doing them...:)  So here we go!!

First and foremost you must listen to your body.  Everybody has a training plan and  it's great to have  a training plan to follow but if your body is telling you it's had enough you need to give it a break.
As I'm writing this post I'm dealing with a pain in my knee that just came out of nowhere. I know my body well enough that I ran through the pain today during my 8 mile run. If the pain is still there tomorrow though I will be taking the day off and skip my 5 mile recovery run tomorrow. It's just not worth it to go run tomorrow if it's doing more damage than good. The important thing about a marathon training plan is to be able to complete at least 85-90% of it. If you can do that you're in good shape... Remember listen to your body it's always talking to you. The question is are you listening... :)

Second thing you must do is watch what you put into your body. I haven't always been the heathiest eater. Yes I do love my chocolate... dark chocolate; it's good for the heart... :) Having said that since I've been using Isagenix I have been eating a lot healthier and I can feel the difference in my body.

The  marathoners diet should be about 65%  carbs, 20-25% fats ( unsaturated), and 20-25% protein. So you should be piling up the pasta and brown rice as well as eating lots of fresh fruis and vegetables. In addition; fish is super important. One serving a fish shouls be a mainstay on your table each week for the marathoner.  For me I eat pasta every week and I eat plenty of fruits and veggies. The one thing I strugle with is the fish. I have started substituting that with tuna fish though which still gives you some Omega 3's. Yes!!! :)

So if you can master these 2 tips and get throught 85-90% of your training you should be ready to go on race day and prepared to have an awesome race.

I'll leave you with a quote my friend told me once on a training run as I was dealing with a calf injury.  He said...   "It's better to show up under trained and healthy than to show up over trained and injured." That was some of  the best advice I ever got.

So how is your training going so far?? Are you getting through the majority of it injury free??

Weekend recap - 16 miler and Arts and Crafts Festival

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Goooooooooooooood morning peeps!! First I would be remiss if I didn't say Happy Veteran's day to all the Veterans out there. Thank you for serving and defending our freedoms...

My weekend was great and I'm going to take you through some of it on this weekend recap post. So here we go!!

Friday 11/8/13 - I was off from work so I got up and got in a 6 mile recovery run. It was supper windy out however I really enjoyed this run. I was out in Wesley Chapel where Amy lives and I ran through one of the neighborhoods over there. Beautiful scenery... Washed my miles down with a chocolate Isalean shake.

Did some research and studying for my business during the day on Friday and got a nice little cat nap in as well. Later that night Amy came over and I cooked us a wonderful dinner with baked pork chops, broccoli, brown rice, and muffins with a little honey on top. By the way I discovered this weekend that honey is one of the Best Things Ever!!! I'm just saying... :)

Mr. Honey Bear

Saturday 11/09/13 - I got up early Saturday morning for my long with my running group, The Blue Sharks.  The schedule was 16 miles with 12 at marathon pace.  I met up with Beth Shaw from Discombobulated Running at 5 am to get our morning run on a little earlier than the group start time which is 5:30 am.  Beth had 20 on her schedule . I also shared some of the Isagenix products with Beth and she plans to do a review after using the products. I'm excited to see what she thinks!!  So we were off at 5 am and the first 3 miles were great. Beth and I chatted for a bit and met back up with the group at 5:30 am for the official start. We split off after that and my next 5 miles were ok but not at pace the way I wanted them to go. Once I got out by the airport on Davis Island and the killer wind hit I knew this was not going to be my day. I finished my 16 miles off at an 8:52 pace however that was no where near what I needed to be running for this day. I'm not disappointed with it though I just know I will need to step it up for the next long run to get those pace miles in. After the run I was glad it was over and I didn't have to deal with Mr. killer wind anymore... :)

After my 16 miler, feeling good... :)

So the rest of Saturday was busy for us. Amy ran up at Rowlett Park and she really liked it!! She did 7 miles and was excited to tell me how beautiful she thought the park was when she got back. We're planning a run slash picnic at Rowlett park really soon...

After our runs were done we had two craft shows to attend and a dinner party. I don't know who planned this day out??? First we went to see Amy's Mom at St Timothy's Church craft show where she had a booth there. Amy's Mom makes beautiful jewelry. If you're looking for some great Christmas gifts let me know and I will show you how to get in touch with her. Her shop's name is " The Beaded Lady".

Next stop was the Temple Terrace Arts and Crafts Festival. Its a great event held at a park right off of the Hillsborough river.  Amy and I go to this one every year. They have some really cool exhibitors there. Here are some pics from that event.

Next stop was a dinner party with friends Saturday night. We had a great time there. Food was delicious. Amy and I made our famous homemade salsa. We left around 9:30 pm though because we were both so tired from our looooooooooong day. Anyways it was a blast!!

The food

Sunday 11/10/13 - Sunday was a relaxing day. Church in the morning with my Spiritual Community, Unity North Tampa. Our group Sounds of Light performed some great tunes including one of my favorites of all time, "Imagine" by John Lennon. What a great song!!

Sunday night Amy cooked a wonderful dinner with baked chicken with garlic and parsley, steamed brocolli and baked potatoes. Peanut Butter chip brownies for dessert. Yea!! :)

And that was my world wind weekend. It was fun and now back to training. I'm taking today off and then back at it tomorrow. The good news is this week is a recovery week for me so the miles won't be too heavy. 43 total miles are scheduled for this week.

So how was your weekend??  What were the highlights for you?

Ode to the Recovery run....

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Happy Hump day peeps!! Wow I can’t believe how fast this training cycle is going by. I’m approaching week 10 already. I will be running in Jacksonville before we know it!!
This week is going well so far. I started the week off with a 14 mile MLR. The run went great and I’m happy where I am in training so far.

Today’s run was a 6 mile recovery run. Actually I have three 6 mile recovery runs this week and then a big 16 miler with 12 miles at marathon pace on Saturday. So as I was looking at my schedule I thought to myself how did I get so fortunate to have 3 recovery runs in a week?? I don’t know but I’m enjoying it!! So this short post is dedicated to the recovery run.

Recovery runs are runs where you want to run at a relaxed paced to loosen your muscles up for your harder workouts during the week. If you can’t hold a conversation during your recovery runs than you’re running too fast. Some people say to run your recovery run 15-25% slower than goal marathon race pace. I tend to stick with this philosophy. Most of my recovery runs are at about a 10– 10:30 pace. I always have to remind myself not to go too fast on recovery runs because I will have a chance to run faster later in the week. This week is a great example of that. I will be taking it easy for the next two days before I unleash on my marathon pace run on Saturday. Yea!!

This is me after this morning’s 6 mile recovery run.

Weekend recap - running in the rain...

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Happy Monday peeps!!  Here to give you a quick weekend recap. Training is going great and I'm feeling strong!! I finished off my 54 miles last week feeling better than ever...   So here we go!!

Friday 11/1/13 - 10 miles with 6 miles at tempo pace. I ran my tempo miles at an 8:30 pace for this run because that is where my body felt comfortable at for the day. With me running my 20 miler on Wednesday I didn't feel the energy to push the pace anymore. Having said that, this run was superb and I felt rejuvenated afterwards!!  Washed these miles down with good ole fashioned chocolate milk. Not as good as my Chocolate Isalean shake but it did the trick...

Saturday 11//2/13 - Saturday's run was supposed to be 12 miles however I only did 7. I must say it was a great 7 mile run though. I did 2 easy warm up miles and then ran the last 5 at about an 8:45 pace. The great thing about this run is that I got caught in a huge thunderstorm on the way back. The last 3 miles I was "running in the rain, just running in the rain..." It was refreshing and fun... :) Washed the miles down with a Chocolate Isalean shake.

Sunday 11/03/13 - I normally don't run on Sundays however since I didn't get all my miles in on Saturday I knew I had to run 5 miles. So I got up early before Church to hit up an easy 5 miler.  Ran these miles at a general aerobic pace; about 9:45. I enjoyed this run because I don't typically run before Church however it was nice to get it in. Washed the miles down with a Vanilla Isalean Shake. And with that run I capped off my 54 miles week. Yea!! :)

After Church Amy and  I joined my Spiritual Community ,Unity North Tampa for our annual picnic out at Lettuce Lake park. We do this every year and it was a ton of fun. Here are some pics from this weekend's event...

Fantabulous Friday - Zen running or something like that... :)

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Happy Friday peeps!! In this addition of Fantabulous Friday I’m going to discuss how cool it is to just run in new places. I love setting my mind free and just letting the run take me wherever it wants to take me. And on my 20 miler on Wednesday of this week I found a gem…

Rowlett park is a huge park in Tampa and for the past 30 years or so I’ve been there plenty of times for family get- togethers and bbq’s and what not. On Wednesday as I was running my 20 miler for some reason the Universe led me over to Rowlett park and what I found amazed me. Rowlett park has a beautiful paved trail ( about 1.5 miles long) that is completely shaded by trees and wonderful views of the Hillsborough River. There are water fountains and bathrooms ever half mile or so. I could not believe how nice it was to run the trail there and I couldn't understand how I have missed this gem for so long???

Oh well needless to say I did about 6 miles or so at the park before heading back home. Now I know of another great park to run in. If you’ve never been to Rowlett Park the address is 2501 River Hills Drive. Tampa, FL. 33604.
Here’s a couple of pics of the beautiful Rowlett park. If you’re runner like me and need a change of scenery this could be a great option for you.

So have you ever just went out for a run and let the run take you wherever it wanted too?? Where did you end up??

That’s all for today. This is TY signing off. As always allow the Universe to work in your favor and be blessed…
