How to make a fresh hot and spicy salsa!!

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Yesterday I whipped up some tasty hot and spicy salsa for my coworkers. It was kinda like a contest because one of my co-workers brought in her salsa as well but it really wasn't because my salsa is the Best Salsa Ever... :)  It was fun though and everyone enjoyed it. And now I share my salsa making secrets with you...

Ingredients:
4 tomatoes - diced
4 cloves of garlic - diced
Fresh cilantro - chopped
3 jalapeno - diced
1 onion – diced
1 lime ( for fresh lime juice )
Salt and Pepper to taste

All the ingredients…

0
Dice up the tomatoes
healthy

 Next chop up the cilantro

Next chop up the cloves of garlic

Mix

Dice up Jalapenos

Mix

Dice up the onion
isagenix salsa ingredient

Mix

Add the lime juice and salt and pepper to taste... Enjoy... :)

There you have it. A very simple and healthy snack. I make this salsa at least once a week. If you like it really hot like me you can increase the jalapenos and if you don't like it as hot you can put less in. But who would want to do that???

Week in Review - 9 day cleanse results

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Hello all and yes I’m back. I survived the 9 day cleanse and had an awesome first week of marathon training. In today’s post I will recap my Cleanse and share how my first week of training went. So here we go…

The Cleanse: I completed my full 9 day cleanse. I must say I’ve never done a cleanse before but I’m very happy with the results. I feel heathier and happier. One thing that I learned while completing the cleanse is that on cleanse days I’m able to eat a hard boiled egg for a snack. That was a revelation on my last 2 cleanse days and really saved me. I was so grateful for those eggs… Bottom line results.. I lost 10 pounds!! I’m excited about that because 165 lbs is a great weight for me for marathon running. Stay tuned for pics to follow.

Last week was the official kick off to my marathon training cycle for the Jacksonville marathon. I must say I feel super confident and ready for this race. Here’s my week’s workout results.

Monday 9/9/13: Lactate threshold run. 8 miles with 4 miles at Threshold pace. This was a tough run however outside of the long run threshold runs are the most important part of a marathon training cycle. I ran my threshold miles at about a 7:55 pace which is good, for now. That needs to go down to 7:40 or so as my training and fitness increase. Recovery drink was an Isalean Pro chocolate shake. It was a great start to the week.

Tuesday 9/10/13: 12 mile ride. Cross training. Love it!! Recovery drink was an Isalean Pro Vanilla shake. Note to self don’t try to video tape your ride by holding the camera in your hand while riding; it doesn't turn out that well… I did however find a great video on youtube that explains how to create your own camera mount for your bike. Yes!!

Wednesday 9/11/13: 9 mile General Aerobic Run. This run is done at about 15-25% slower than goal marathon pace.  Felt great and I enjoyed it. Recovery drink was Isalean Pro chocolate shake

Thursday 9/12/13: 4 mile Recovery. Recovery runs are done at about 76% of maximal heart rate. Love my recovery runs because they get me ready for my tough workouts during the week.

Friday 9/13/13: Rest

Saturday 9/14/13: 12 Medium Long Run through my neighborhood. MLR’s are done at about 10-20% slower than goal marathon pace. This was a great start for my long runs. Solid effort. Ran the second half of this at a 9 min pace. Recovery drink was one Isalean Pro chocolate shake and 1 Isalean chocolate shake. Yup I doubled up... :)

So all in all I had an exciting week of training and I feel good!! How about you? How’s your training going so far and what’s your next race??

Happy first day of marathon training and weekend recap

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Happy First day of marathon training cycle to me. If you're a runner like me then you know how excited I am. I almost couldn't sleep last night just anticipating my first run. I'm healthy and I'm ready for a solid run at Jacksonville this year!!  Yea!!  :)

Today's run went well. I'm going to go thru my weekend on this post and then end it off  with the results of today's run. So here we go.

First of all on Friday was day 3 of my 9 day cleanse. I was finally able to eat real food again and that was awesome!! I downed a shake after my run, ate a banana and had a great healthy lunch. Saturday I got up 4:30 am to head down to Davis Island and run with my running group, The Blue Sharks. We start at 5:30 am every Saturday morning. I had a great run on Saturday. 10 miles at a 9:05 pace which was solid for me and right where I wanted it to be. Recovery Drink was an Isalean Pro Chocolate Shake.  After the run I weighed myself.  I was down to 165 lbs but that was after my run so I will check that again some time today or tomorrow.

Picked up the kids on Saturday and we came home and made a pizza for lunch before heading over to see Amy and the boys. :) I will post more about the pizza tomorrow because it was super delicious!!

Sunday we had Church in the morning and then I watched my good ole TB Bucs give away a game on Sunday to the NY Jets... Unbelievable!!  :( Oh well there's always next week. I did make some tasty homemade salsa to go with the game which was still delicious even though the Bucs lost. Went to bed early and did my best to sleep before getting up at about 6:30 am for today's run.

Today was a great run!! This training plan is tough with a lot of miles however I believe in it because I know how ready I was for Twin Cities last year after going thru this marathon training cycle. My run today was 8 miles with 4 miles at threshold pace. 2 miles warm up, 4 at threshold pace and then 2 miles cool down. Splits were 10:26, 9:50, 8:01, 7:46, 7:56, 7:55, 9:47, 9:39. Recovery Drink was a chocolate Isalean Pro shake. Great start to my plan.

So that was my weekend in a nutshell. I'm on day 6 of my 9 day cleanse and I'm not looking forward to those 2 cleanse days at the end. I can do it though.

So have you ever run a marathon??  Do you use a training plan or do you just make it up as you go??

Cleanse Day 2

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.
Train Healthy Be Wealthy

Well I made it through my second cleanse day. I can honestly say I'm really looking forward to eating tomorrow.  My first day of cleansing went better than I expected. I really didn't have any hunger pains. Day two was different. Today I was very hungry in mid afternoon. I've been dreaming about ordering a large pizza tomorrow and eating the whole thing. Or maybe hitting up McDonald's for a Big Mac but I know that doing so would defeat the purpose of the cleanse in the first place. So I'm sticking with the plan all the way through.  I must say that overall I am feeling like I have more energy and my body is a fat burning machine!! :)

I have to keep reminding myself that I'm only on day 2. I still have 2 more cleanse days to go. The next 5 days will be shake days so I will replace two meals with IsaLean shakes and have one meal per day of approximately 400-600 calories. Yes that's sounding pretty awesome right now... :)

My pics from day 2 are done. I didn't weigh myself this morning so I will weigh myself again for day 3. Here we go...

So far so good and thank God for shake days!!

Happy Cleansing - Day 1 pics are up!!

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

First day of Cleansing and I'm excited!! So excited that I decided to get up and get my interval workout in this morning. 6 x 1/2 mile repeats at 3:35 avg pace. 2 mile warm up with a 1/2 mile cool down. Total of 5.5 miles for the day.

Not so sure if that was a good idea but I will find out soon enough. So for the next 2 days I will be in full Cleanse mode. No food except for an apple a day and I can have some small dark chocolate. It's supposed to be Isa Delight Plus however I'm all out so I'm going to substitute with a small piece of healthy dark chocolate once a twice a day. Hey a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do... :)

First thing this morning when I woke up is I took my Day 1 pics. Now my reason for cleansing isn't to lose weight. Well maybe a couple of pounds but not much... I've been using Isagenix for about 3 weeks now and I've already lost 7 lbs!!  I started at 175 lbs and now as of today my current weight is 168 lbs.   I'm cleansing to purify my body of all the toxins we take in on a daily basis and to help feel healthier. I also want to build some lean muscle, increase my energy and reduce some of my fat. With my weight currently at 168 lbs I'm getting close to my goal. My goal is to get down to 160 -165 lbs.  I believe 160 - 165 lbs is a perfect marathon running weight for me. With Jacksonville coming up in December I know I can make it and be ready for an awesome race. So without further ado here are my day one pics. Taken at about 6:45am...

Two days on Tuesday - Day 2 pre cleansing

To learn more about Isagenix and how to make your own health and wealth transformation please click on my website below.

Well so far so good on the pre cleansing. My body is feeling well and no hunger pains as of yet. The real test will come the next 2 days when I'm in real cleanse mode.  I'm not looking to lose weight while doing the cleanse I simply want to tone up and build some lean muscle mass.  My concern is still being able to train while cleansing. I have some running to do however the plan calls for light exercise on cleanse days. I may need to adjust my schedule a bit to to get it all in. I know I can work it out.

Monday: The last 2 days days of training have been good. Labor day I got up early Monday morning and went out for a 5 mile tempo run. A tempo run is where you bring yourself up to your threshold pace for atleast 15-20 minutes or longer. The point is to get comfortable running at a somewhat uncomfortable pace and the benefit should be increased speed and stamina. For me, my threshold is normally around 7:40 per mile. I didn't run that fast on Monday however I know that my threshold pace will be getting back to where it should be as I continue through my training. Per my heart rate I know I got in a great workout on this day.  1 mile warm up and then about 17 minutes at an 8:03 pace, followed by a 1 mile cool down. I added an extra cool down mile for a total of 6 miles for the day.  Recovery drink was an IsaLean Pro Chocolate Shake. Yea!! :)

Tuesday: Today I did an easy recovery spin in the gym. I love cross training on recovery days because it takes a lot of the pounding off of my legs that running gives them.  10 miles at a 4:38 pace. Recovery drink was an IsaLean Pro Chocolate Shake.

In conclusion I'm feeling very good about that rest of this week with the cleanse as well as official marathon training that starts next week. I'm going to be using the plan I used for my last marathon from Advanced Marathoning by Pete Pfitzinger and Scott Douglass. This book and the training plans had me super prepared for the Twin Cities marathon last year so I'm excited to hit it up again!!

Any one of you ever used the marathon training plans out of this book?? How did it go??

Train Healthy Be Wealthy

First and foremost Happy Labor Day to you all. I hope this post finds you happy and at home enjoying time with friends and family.  I had a great second week of training and capped it off this weekend with a 7 mile run.

My weekend run did not go as planned. I didn't have the energy that  I felt I should have had for the run. I probably shouldn't have run that second 3 mile run Friday evening.... :)  All in all though it was a great weekend.  Friday, Amy and I made some tasty homemade salsa.  I will let her tell you about that in another blog... but I will share a pic of the finished product... :)
After my Saturday morning run I went to work. I know booo... After work though Amy made a delicious healthy meal with fish, brown rice and veggies. Yum!!!
Had a great Church service on Sunday Morning with my Spiritual Community, Unity of North Tampa. I volunteer as one of the Youth Ministers and I'm part of the music team where I play the drums, guitar, keyboard and sing. I really love being a part of this Spiritual community!! If you're ever in the Tampa Bay area come by and see us...

Now for the big news this week...I'm starting my 9 day cleanse.  I'm excited and a little nervous about this cleanse. I've never done a cleanse before however I know it is good for the body.  I'm starting out with 2 shake days to pre-cleanse. These days will include 2 IsaLean shakes to replace meals and one meal, preferably lunch, of about 400-600 calories. The cleanse begins with 2 cleanse days where I will be taking four servings of Cleanse for Life during the day along with some Isagenix snacks and an apple.  After my initial 2 cleanse days I have 5 shake days (same regimen as the pre-cleanse shake days) then capped off with 2 more cleanse days. Yea that's going to be tough but I'm confident I can do it and I'm looking forward to a new and healthier me. Stay tuned to the blog as I will be updating you with my progress with the cleanse throughout the week.

So have you ever done a cleanse?? If so let me know how it went.
